ALEX FERGUSON IS today ready to begin the complete overhaul of his Manchester United squad in the wake of their Champions League final defeat to Barcelona last month.

And it’s not good news for two of Giovanni Trapattoni’s players.

Steve Bruce hopes to bring former England defender Wes Brown to Sunderland along with Old Trafford team-mates Darron Gibson and John O’Shea in an ambitious £12million deal.

The signing by Liverpool of Black Cats midfielder Jordan Henderson has afforded Bruce the means to raid his former club.  He’s facing a battle though.

Irish veteran O’Shea is said to be very reluctant to leave and is ‘digging in’. The Waterford man and and Brown have been in the first-team squad for a decade but face limited game time with the likely arrival of Blackburn’s Phil Jones today.

Midfielder Gibson picked up his first league medal this year but it’ll be his last at United. He has accepted his time is up having endured a torrid time from fans.

The Mirror report that Fergie wants to cash in on the Derry-born midfielder  to provide more money to bid for Udinese’s £30m-rated Alexis Sanchez.

Wolves are also understood to have made an offer in excess of €13.5 million for three United players, including Gibson.

Do you think O’Shea should leave Old Trafford?
