NEWLY REUNITED TAKE THAT bandmates Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow have released the video for Robbie’s single Shame, co-written by and featuring Barlow.

The song – which marks the first time that the two have collaborated since Williams left Take That in 1995 – will feature on Williams’ own greatest hits album, ‘In And Out of Consciousness’, to be released in October with the single slated for release the previous week.

The song is also the first time ever that the two men have recorded a straightforward duet together without the appearance of other Take That members.

The tune got its first radio play on BBC Radio 1 this morning – but not before the video was put on YouTube by Williams’ record label EMI.

The lyrics, perhaps unsurprisingly, deal with the pair’s often-fractured relationship, and include the various lines:

Well there’s three version of this story – there’s yours, and mine, and then the truth

Out of some sentimental gain I wanted you to feel my pain, but it came back ‘return to sender’

My tears could fill the Albert Hall, Is this the sound of sweet surrender?

I told you through the television and all that went away was the price we pay

I wrote a letter in my mind but the words were so unkind about a man I can’t remember

I don’t recall the reasons why, I must have meant them at the time

The video falls a little short of earlier reports that the video would follow a Brokeback Mountain-style theme but does show the two exchanging a series of (ahem) ‘meaningful’ glances and a shot of the two stripping to the waist before making to dive off a cliff together.

TAKE THAT have confirmed that former band member Robbie Williams has rejoined the group to record a new album.

The album is set to be released in time for the lucrative Christmas market, while the band – whose last tour, to promote album The Circus, sold out stadiums worldwide including Croke Park – will probably hit the stage again next summer.

Though the band’s official statement does not formally state whether Williams’ return is permanent, a comment by band member Jason Orange suggests the arrangement is a temporary one:

I’m over the moon that Robbie’s back with us, however long it lasts.

The album marks the first time the group have recorded a full album together since the release of ‘Nobody Else’ in 1995. Williams left the band in July of that year to pursue a solo career.

The band’s frontman Gary Barlow has co-written a song called ‘Shame’ with Williams for the latter’s greatest hits album, due for release this October just before Take That’s effort, and the two will shoot a video for the song.

The video, according to The Sun, will liken the two’s love-hate relationship to that of the main characters in gay cowboy film Brokeback Mountain.

Williams has reunited with his estranged bandmates in past months, however, with the band’s Mark Owen reportedly turning to Williams – a self-confessed drug addict – for assistance when admitting his problems with alcohol in March.

After initially becoming a huge solo star, Williams’ fortunes have turned in recent years with his last two albums Rudebox and Reality Killed the Video Star failing to sell in the quantity of their predecessors.
