It’s black-tie this evening but it was hot dogs at a hoops game last night for the British and US leaders.

US OPEN CHAMPION Rory McIlroy usually dines with the likes of G-Mac and Darren Clarke while on tour.

But tonight the Holywood native will sit down for dinner with the US president the British prime minister.

The 22-year-old confirmed last night that he’ll be attending a black-tie reception at the White House tonight for David Cameron, who is on a three-day tour of the US.

Star of hit American drama ‘Homeland’, Damian Lewis will also be in attendance.

McIlroy is currently ranked as the world’s No 1 golfer and having come third at last week’s World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship, will not play again until the Masters at Augusta next month.

The PGA have confirmed he’ll instead spend much of the next three weeks ‘working on his game at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, Florida, before making a trip to Augusta National the week before the tournament’.

Last night, Obama and Cameron were interviewed courtside at a college basketball game in Ohio as the country’s annual March Madness obsession gets into full swing. The Conservative Party leader said he was trying to get to terms with the speed of the game and promised to teach his host the rules of cricket.
