Ronan O’Gara’s advice for one online critic: ‘Concentrate on achieving something in your own life…’

Note to self: don’t use the ‘R’ word with ROG.

Ronan O'Gara: new targets.

RONAN O’GARA’S BEEN criticised for his defensive capabilities at times throughout his career.

But the Munster No 10 had no trouble looking after himself when told to retire by one Ireland rugby fan earlier.

“Any chance of international retirement? Damien, Shay… all the greats know their time,” wrote one online critic.

But the Corkman insists he’s going nowhere for now.

“I know my time as well… The time for breaking all the records… Now don’t ever contact me again,” he said.

O’Gara started with his old half back partner Peter Stringer for the first time in 19 months in the bonus point win over Newport Gwent Dragons last weekend.

Kidney needs to make the decision if ROG isnt up to it any more and bring in Madigan or Keatley. But if ROG wants to keep playing then he should keep playing. If he keeps getting picked for Ireland then he’ll keep playing for Ireland. If you have issue with that then blame the guys selecting him. I heard this same old shíte thrown at Paddy Wallace, DOC, TOL and others who people didnt want picked. They were picked and they played as anyone would, thats how the game works, they dont decide, the coach decides.

ROG isnt holding back anyone, the coaching team are.

  • Rog can still do a job but madigan needs game time to establish himself as number two behind sexton rog can fill in when there’s injuries

  • Why are they Internet trolls?

For a decade O’Gara was admired, praised and applauded by all as his standards of play were so high

Now his standards are not so high (due to age and a changing game). He simply isn’t good enough anymore and he now must take the criticism the sake as he took the plaudits

Retirement and stepping down are not something to be ashamed of.

Holding back the better players that are plainly there is wrong, Madigan and Keatley are now past ogara

Respect to the legend but it’s time to go
