LEITRIM TODAY RECORDED their first-ever victory in the All-Ireland qualifiers, beating Wicklow 0-13 to 0-10 at Carrick-on-Shannon.
Joey Kelly and Emlyn Mulligan both contributed points for their respective sides in a closely contested first half, which saw Leitrim take a narrow 0-7 to 0-6 lead into the break.
Barney Breen’s men took command of the game after half-time, securing a four-point cushion, with Mulligan again among the scorers, as their opponents struggled in the opening stages of the second half.
Points from Dean Healy and Seanie Furlong then closed the gap between the sides to two points, with just under ten minutes remaining.
However, Leitrim finished strongly and further points from Mulligan and James Glancy sealed their victory.
