LIVERPOOL LEGEND KENNY Dalglish has today left the club again.

The Anfield outfit will confirm that the man known as ‘King Kenny’ by those on the Kop is no longer manager.

After just over a year in charge on Merseyside — for the second time — the Scot leaves in the wake of a disappointing season, in which they finished eighth in the Premier League.

A Carling Cup victory wasn’t enough to satisfy the Fenway Sports Group and having been summoned to Boston earlier this week, the decision was made.

BBC Five Live are reporting that Liverpool have already appoached a manager in a Premier League job. Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is the favourite for the post with bookies, followed by former Reds chief, Rafa Benitez; Jose Mourinho, Martin O’Neill and then Frank Rijkaard.

  Liverpool fans usually give a manager time, except Hodgson but the owners were smart enough not to move Dalglish “upstairs” so that removes the option for the Kop to call for him.

Leave Martinez where he is. We need him.Majority of Latics fans have stayed loyal to him through a tough season. Don’t think Bobby is ready for a top flight club like Liverpool just yet. Maybe 2/3 years along the line. He needs to stay with Wigan and see how far up the league he can take take us.

  Firstly FSG should be ashamed of themselves for treating the king as they have. If they understood football they’d realise with a little luck they’d have finished a lot higher than they did.. A few of the players should also be ashamed of themselves.. Eg downing, enrique, Adam..
  Secondly, Martinez has 6 good weeks and all of a sudden he’s a candidate to replace the king?? Never!!

  And blaming Enrique?? Hes been one of the best signings for LFC!!
  FSG are a business, football IS business now & as owners they want better, the fans want better. The liverpool history deserves better. If you kept Dalglish any longer the fans would be happy for the most part but LFC would be dicing with some pretty dodgy circumstances.

  B7584 is spot on here. There’s simply no room for sentiment in football. Ferguson is still in his job because he’s been competitive and won trophies over the years. If that were to stop than I’m sure b7584 would be calling for his head as well. Dalglish may be a club icon and still is for his playing days but if 7th isn’t good enough for Rafa which we all accepted and hodgsons wasn’t good enough 8th isn’t good enough either simples if you want success. Kenny did a job to steady the ship and done well in the cups this year but it became clear to progress up the league we needed to change

  Also Joey as a Liverpool fan I fail to see the shabby treatment dalglish got? Unless he was fired by text or something but from what I see he went to Boston to seek their confidence which he just didn’t have. Tough maybe but that’s football. For the record b7584 enrique has an awful lot of proving to do next season started very brightly but faded very badly. Adam will be a bench player next season once Lucas returns even Henderson at 21 shows more talent and ability. There is useful players at Liverpool and an awful lot of the younger players will grow from this season but additions are needed specifically right wing. Reasons to be cautiously optimistic if not realistic about next season. To sum up it’s not Kenny dalglish fc we support it’s Liverpool fc

  Alan, Im more than able to talk football – i tried it yesterday but when youre met with a champions league spot is better that winning the league its just baffling (i KNOW you’d want the league every single year, theres no real fan that doesnt)
  
  There is always going to be a huge element of trolling when liverpool & united are concerned. Sunday/Monday was every bit as bad, you just have to have a thick skin and give it back just as good.

If Martinez got the job it would be AVB at Chelsea all over again. No doubting he has the talents like AVB but he’s too young to be able to bully players in the dressing room. That’s what it takes. Premier league players have big egos so you need someone they’ll respect and look up to. KD was the man at the time I just think his lack of tactical nuance is what showed up in his recent tenure. His spell is no different to the spell he had at Newcastle. Bring in Guus Hiddink!

Have to say, no matter who comes in they’ll have a hell of a job filling the shoes of Kenny, at least in the view of most supporters. So it will be an uphill struggle to get started for whoever takes over. If were honest, the league season has been less than satisfactory (slight understatement), and while the League Cup and some sliverware is nice, I don’t think even the addition of an FA CUP would have stopped this decision being made by FSG. Kenny did his job, he came in, lifted everybody, steadied the ship, overall record not tarnished really, bad league form this season, but in years to come people will look back and say, yeah but he only had 18months at it and they were in turmoil when he arrived, he got them into Europe and some silverware, pat on the back and thanks very much. The real discussion point everyone seems to be missing here, is who can take-over, there could be far more attractive manager jobs for clubs in the CL by the time next week comes around and things settle down a bit; i.e Chelsea/possibly Bayern depending on how the CL final goes. Anyone in Spain could be gone by the time el presidente voting finishes in some clubs next week and no-one in Italy is really safe bar the top 2. I think whoever comes in has to appeal to the fans, FSG can’t afford another Hodgson, (nice fella, wrong place, wrong time).

I’ve stuck with Liverpool through a lot in the last few years, as have a lot of fans, but I can honestly say if Roberto Martinez gets the job I will be absolutely disgusted.

The next Liverpool manager needs to match Liverpool’s stature. Fabio Capello, Pep Guardiola, Mourinho if he leaves Real (which doesn’t look likely), and failing any of those, Rafa Benitez.

Id be surprised if martinez gets the job btw.
He has a FANTASTIC relationship with Dave Whelan, Whelan has stuck by him COUNTLESS times when shit was going wrong season after season. I think he owes Wigan to stay for another season or two.
For a club like liverpool to hire martinez after him essentially flirting with relegation season after season and just about turning this season around would be madness.
The fans are the ones who will have him sacked if he gets it & in NO time too.
Still think ancelotti & capello etc arent going to go for it either. Best bet all round? Rafa, keeps everyone happy (even us United fans :D)

  I’m not a Liverpool fan but you can’t but think that Kenny was always on a hiding to nothing taking the job. He had nothing to prove but has managed to tarnish his reputation and was a little naive thinking that he could revive the fortunes of the club. Top 4 will be a big challenge from here on without a serious injection of capital. Martin O’Neill is the outstanding candidate as far as I’m concerned.

Paul Lambert has the necessary qualities and can gain European experience next season in the Europa League.

No way should Benitez be allowed near the club. Remember how he destroyed the squad he inherited through poor man management? Dull, boring football is all he knows. Hence sacking from Inter.

  Ancelotti is in Champions League next season with PSG and a limitless transfer budget with the club’s Qatari owners; he won’t be going anywhere.
