You know what bugs me about this Olympics? Lord Coe, McDonalds, Coca Cola, reports on LOCOG’s heavy handedness with shopkeepers who placed an unofficial Olympic Logo in their windows, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, the ticket fiasco and all the other corporate nonsense. The Olympics puts too much emphasis on all this extra BS and not enough on educating us about the athletes who have worked so hard to get there. Its meant to be a showcase for non professional sportspeople isnt it? Its lost its way in my opinion and just reeks of money and bandwagon jumping.

Just wondering why we don’t have a team in the football?

Getting around London is going to be such a nightmare that I’m taking a week of work for the first week of the Games and heading for the Galway races instead. Will keep a close eye on the Olympics all the same and best of luck to the Irish athletes. Just, the tube is bad enough as is but during the Games it’s going to be unbearable.

I’ve don’t think football should be a olympic sport – the greatest achievement in this sport is surely the world cup? The olympic’s should really represent the pinnacle achievement of each particular sport.

I’m living in London and will have to deal with chaos on the transport network during the Olympics which I’m not looking forward to. On a positive note, I do have tickets for the women’s boxing finals events where I’m hoping to see Katie Taylor win gold for Ireland.

I’ll be at home in London enjoying the games and am lucky to be attending the men’s hockey final. Can’t wait.

There are limited facilities in secondary schools in Ireland to get the kids interested in Olympic sports. Families have to pay a fortune to enroll kids in gymnastics, athletics, boxing, swimming, and so on, the facilities ate poor even though it costs us parents a small fortune. Compare our facilities to those in Canada, America, the Uk we do badly. Even if our kids are interested in sport and good at it we have to travel to Dublin to get the best, or other major cities. I went to primary school in the UK 27 years ago, we had a swimming pool, athletics course, gymnasium fully kitted out, and free extra curricular activities, I came back to Ireland at 8 and what a shock to the system, the toilets were outside in a shed. In 27 years not much has changed.

I’m off for a week and will have BBC Red Button on the go constantly! in particular Triathlon, swimming, boxing and athletics!! Ah who am I kidding….I’ll watch anything! The pinnacle of Sports Spectaculars will rock!

If I wanted to see a load of drug users in sports gear I’d hang around the Liffey boardwalk!

Was lucky enough to get tickets for the Olympic tennis in Wimbledon, so I’ll be there! I can’t wait, it’s the only time I’ll be able to afford centre court seats over there!!!!

Seems to me like there isn’t enough coverage of our Irish athletes so i dont know what or who to watch out for?I will watch but i know my interest in it will wain after awhile!

Daily, I will check the tally of medals and glory in the sporting achievement of men and women who aren’t me, in sports I’m barely interested in, but happen to have been born in the same country as me, who probably are at best barely aware of my existence.

I will also laugh at Londoners moaning about the upset in their city.

I’ll be too busy watching paint dry.
