JOEY BARTON IS set to join QPR, pending the results of a medical, he has announced via Twitter.

In addition to quoting the lyrics of obscure rock band, the Book Club, and describing how “a denim jacket and shades make u feel indie,” the star announced his footballing intentions today, saying: “Going for a medical now, still no contract offer from NUFC……think that just about makes my mind up.”

Shortly afterwards, he added:

“Don’t want to leave Newcastle…….I’ve made that clear but my hands are tied.”

Barton has been a constant source of controversy during his time at Newcastle that culminated in the player being transfer listed after criticising the club’s behaviour – again via Twitter.
