TEAM IRELAND ATHLETES were the guests of President Michael D Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.

Golden girl Katie Taylor was among the 30 Irish athletes from the 66-strong Irish Olympic team that met personally with the President and his wife, Sabina, at the Phoenix Park residence.

Ireland won a record-equalling five medals at the games with bronze medallists Paddy Barnes and Cian O’Connor among those who also met with the President and his wife.
