Gareth Bale is too injured to go to the Olympics – but fit enough to score against the LA Galaxy last night

Watch this video, because something doesn’t quite add up.

IT WAS ONLY last month that Gareth Bale ruled himself out of the Olympics with a back injury, so you can imagine Stuart Pearce’s surprise when the winger popped up in a pre-season friendly for Tottenham Hotspur last night.

The Welshman opened the scoring in Spurs’ 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy in the 17th minute. What’s more, if you watch the replay of Bale’s leaping header, it doesn’t look like the kind of move you could pull off if your back was giving you trouble.

There’s probably a perfectly logical explanation to all of this. After all, if Bale didn’t fancy going to the Olympics, he wouldn’t have bothered kitting out in the Team GB kit for the promo photoshoot, would he?
