  • ahh unlucky Ireland. Dunedin last weekend was a sea of green and town was party central. We miss you Irish supporters, you guys are awesome. Hold your heads up high. You got into a quarter final, 12 teams have already long gone

A Masterclass in how passing to a player moving at pace is far superior to passing to a stationary player. 1 huge mistake we made consistently and Wales exploited and didn’t make themselves.

  • yes it pisses me off to that we have lost folks……!!!!!
The welsh were as tight as a ducks arse and ireland didn’t create and momentum and were to slow to adapt but i was not on the field and having been in the boxing ring myself
ITS NOT THE LADS ON THE SIDE LINE WHO HAVE LOST THE FIGHT…
ITS THE LADS ON THE PITCH…
YES THEY LOST AND WE ALL KNOW IT BUT FAIR PLAY TO THEM FOR GETTING US THIS FAR…..
LETS REGROUP AND LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.
MAYBE WE NEED TO LOOK AT YOUNGER PLAYERS…
    i am still gutted though….
    Cmon ireland….
we all need support even in shit times not just good…….

  • I’m gutted to be honest. I’m gutted for all those lads who gave us a great journey and did not deserve to lose that game. We got caught on the hop for the first try,we should of kicked for goal, and then we should have tackled the man to the ground for the killer try. Hitler should have been a catholic,we shouldn’t have bailed out the banks..if and buts were candy and nuts..we’d all have alot of them..I’m just gutted for the players, they deserved more and deserved to create history. That team has given the country a massive lift and always has, just look at the smile on peoples faces when they talk about that team. Major respect, for a second i almost forgot about the recession. Back to the doom and gloom.

  • At least John Waters’ concerns about a new national anthem have now become academic. Must cancel that ‘business trip’ to NZ now that my important ‘meeting’ is off.

  • Why Why Why didnt they kick for goal with the penalty opportunities. Forgive me if I dont say well done, not alot was achieved when you consider the team we have.

The wind in the first half is why

      Reply
    • Windy in a notoriousy difficult stadium to kick in

      Reply
    • Too windy. Ah come on. The welsh kicker gave it a few go’s. The wind didnt seem to bother him. If it notorious for been windy then why not play sexton an the running game. Ireland were very predictable today and that was their downfall.

    • Bit of wind, seriously? Priestland kick over from near the halfway line. Until now Ireland have religiously kicked for goal when the opportunity was there…unless leading by a decent margin. I nearly fell out of my chair when the ball was kicked to touch…those points would have been vital in keeping a tight margin in the scoreline and more importantly would have aided the Irish side mentally. I think when they realised Wales had their number they didnt have an answer. Fair play to Wales they played the game, we could’nt respond.

    • If they had kicked for goal, there would be a many people giving out, wishing they had tried for a try! Hindsight is great but we don’t know if O’Gara would have gotten the points.

      Reply
    • I agree that he may not have got the points but my point is, it is easy to get excited when you have momentum forward and kick to the corner however Ireland’s (and that of most professional teams) strategy is to attempt the kick at goal…get the points on the board. The kick to the corner was extremely uncharacteristic, it showed they were rattled from the early try and thats all I’ll say, the lads are on the way home…we’re all gutted. Lets look to Feb where we can exact revenge on the Welsh :D
