LEWIS HAMILTON OVERCAME a determined challenge from Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen to secure victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The win, the McLaren driver’s second of the season, saw Hamilton defend his pole position from lap one with only Raikkonen and his Lotus team-mate Romain Grosjean providing any threat.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was fourth with Fernando Alonso claiming fifth place.
There result sees Alonso extend his lead in the Drivers’ Championship to 40 points ahead of Mark Webber.
The Australian had been ahead of Alonso after the second series of pit stops.
However, the Red Bull driver was forced to pit again with 13 laps to go, a move which saw him drop to eighth place.
Sunday’s result see Red Bull hold a 53 point lead over McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship with a Lotus just a point behind.
