Minister Alan Shatter wants to convene a meeting with the Ombudsman and the Commissioner following an investigation into accusations of collusion between a member of the force and a convicted drug dealer.
At least three cars were involved in the collision on the M50 near Sandyford last night. The Garda Ombudsman is part of the investigation into the incident.
The incident, in which a man in his mid-20s died, took place in the Ladytown area yesterday.
The incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman and the Naas to Newbridge lanes of the dual carriageway are currently closed.
The collision occurred on Churchtown Road, Dublin, on Thursday morning.
The investigation looked into accusations of collusion between gardaà and convicted drug dealer in the movement and supply of controlled drugs.
The man has been suspended and is being questioned over the incident at Loughrea Garda Station.
The man became ill in Midleton garda station this morning and was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
A man has been hospitalised after he was hit by a car being driven by an off-duty garda on Sunday evening.
