THE DUBLIN CITY Marathon is getting under way in the capital this morning with over 14,000 people set to compete.
Road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place across the north and south of the city centre today with a record number of entrants setting off from around 9am this morning.
The race will start at Fitzwilliam Street before finishing in Merrion Square between midday and 5pm with a large number of roads closed as a result.
The thousands of competitors will raise millions of euro for charities by taking part today but for only the second time in the history of the race there is no sponsorship.
That means there will be no television coverage of the event as there has been in recent years.
