DUBLIN’S DRAMATIC ALL-IRELAND semi final over Kerry was declared ‘game of the decade’ as soon as the final whistle sounded and the passage of four months has not dimmed the opinion.

The Dubs’ 3-18 to 3-11 victory over Kerry at Croke Park has been voted as the best match in sport this year. The game received 31% of the votes in a poll that featured on TheScore.ie on Friday.

Jim Gavin’s side trailed 3-5 to 1-9 at half-time but rallied superbly in the final 25 minutes to win by seven points; leaving the kingdom stunned.

The semi final topped the list ahead of The Rugby Championship decider between New Zealand and South Africa [26%]. The pulsating All-Ireland Club SHC semi final draw between Loughgiel Shamrocks and St Thomas was third [19%].

The All-Ireland Senior Hurling final replay between Clare and Cork, in which eight goals were scored including a Shane O’Donnell hat-trick, was next [9%], while 6% of voters went for Ireland’s heartbreaking 24-22 defeat to New Zealand at Lansdowne Road last month.
