And they’re off… Punchestown gets the go-ahead despite inclement weather

Two races have been cancelled including the Grade One Ryanair Novice Chase, after an 8am inspection at the track.

THIS AFTERNOON’S MEETING at Punchestown will go ahead, following an 8am inspection at the course.

However, two chases have been called off on the third day of the fesitval.

The Grade One Ryanair Novice Chase and the Coleman Tunnelling Ireland, UK and Africa Handicap Chase have both fallen victim to the poor conditions.

However, the rest of the card will be run with the Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle and the Avon Ri Corporate & Leisure Resort Chase for the La Touche Cup over the banks course the headline runs.

Racing will now start at 4.50pm rather than 3.40pm. There will be fresh ground on the hurdle and bumper tracks, organisers said in a statement.
